OEM/ODM
Choose a platform OEM route or custom device development
The right route depends on how far your requirements differ from an available platform. Start by defining the container, dose, device function and changes you need.
STANDARD PLATFORM OEM
Use an existing device basis
This route can fit when the required container, dose concept and device architecture are already supported by a verified platform.
Confirm the actual choices available for branding, color, labeling, packaging and limited configuration changes.
Before quotation: identify the exact model, revision, sample condition, order basis and document package.
CUSTOM ODM
Define a development project
This route may be needed when the container interface, dose mechanism, use model or device architecture cannot be addressed by a standard platform.
The scope can include feasibility work, prototypes, tooling, testing and production transfer, subject to manufacturer review.
Before quotation: define the technical brief, project ownership, decision points and assumptions that remain open.
ENGINEERING QUESTIONS
What should the first technical brief cover?
Primary container
Container format, known dimensions, closure interfaces and integration responsibility.
Dose and function
Fixed value or requested range, increment, number of administrations and feedback requirements.
Materials and manufacture
Contact components, material constraints, assembly basis and changes that affect tooling or process controls.
Verification
Questions, methods, samples, acceptance criteria and records needed for the intended project.
A general product description is not enough to confirm compatibility or performance for a specific program.
PROJECT PATH
Four stages, one decision at a time
01. Brief
Confirm the buyer, market, device route, container status, dose concept and current stage.
02. Fit
Compare the brief with a named platform or define the custom questions that need engineering input.
03. Evidence
Confirm samples, documents, responsible parties and information that remains unavailable.
04. Scope
Define the quotation, technical meeting, sample evaluation or development work that comes next.
Who is responsible for what?
SourceMile handles initial qualification and commercial coordination. The applicable partner manufacturer handles manufacturing and technical records. The formal quotation and contract identify the contracting, payment and export entities for the project.
Which route fits your device requirement?
Send the facts you have and list the open questions. SourceMile will first confirm whether the request fits the available scope.
